The locked door

I know its not your fault, but I’m a locked door
Anytime I’m a mess by someone before
And I wish that I, I could find a key
To unlock all the things that you want us to be

Let me open up and start again,
But there’s a safe around my heart
I don’t know how to let you in,
And that’s what keeps us apart
And that’s why I need time.

I said I need you,
I need you to understand, you, you, you

Call up the locksmith,
Tell him we need him quick
We’ve got a million keys,
None of them seem to fit

While you’re on the phone,
call up the clocksmith,
Cuz I could use some time,
Even the slightest bit
Let me open up and start again,
And break this safe around my heart

I don’t know how to let you in,
And that’s what keeps us apart
And that’s why I need time
I said I need you
I need you to understand, you, you, you

I’m thinking now’s the time,
Maybe its time to go, if I gave you my heart, be gentle,
I’m tired of laying low, lets give the world a show
And when you know, you know,
And when you know, you know, you know
And when you know, you know, you know, you know
And that’s why I need time

I said I need you,
I need you to understand, you, you, you
I need you to understand
I need you
I need you, you, you

All the things we meant to be

I won’t call again, I promise. But I need to see you face to face, because
I’m never as good as when you’re there. And I can see myself, the way you look
at me. If we could just get together and find some time to talk. Let’s say
all the things we meant to.

Silent thoughts

Nowadays, it’s so hard to find someone who will actually listen to your problems, someone that will automatically make you smile or laugh in an instant. Someone that you know will always fight for you, someone that makes an effort to keep the conversation going. And I guess if you’ve got that all in one. You’re considered a one in a million.

Choices

You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

If I knew

If I knew it would be the last time that I’d see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly, and pray the Lord your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time that I’d see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss, and call you back for just one more.

If I knew it would be the last time I’d hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would tape each word and action, and play them back throughout my days
If I knew it would be the last time, I would spare an extra minute or two,
To stop and say “I love you,” instead of assuming you know I do.

So just in case tomorrow never comes, and today is all I get,
I’d like to say how much I love you, and I hope we never will forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you’re waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes, you’ll surely regret the day
That you didn’t take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss,
And you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear,
That you love them very much, and you’ll always hold them dear.
Take time to say “I’m sorry,” “Please forgive me,” “Thank you” or “It’s okay”.
And if tomorrow never comes, you’ll have no regrets about today.

Broken promises

And there she goes,
To where, who knows?
Leaving me here,
Drowning in tears,
Cause my heart ponders,
Thinks and wonders,

Here she’s at, cause I don’t know that
She might not believe,
But I take into consider her needs,
And I told her one day,

Which ever it may be in any way,
That I would prove to her my words,
But will she do her part?
And be my love?
Or will she get tired, bored, and done?
Cause what she needed most was finished upon

She drift somewhere else,
Oh so far away,
And leave this broken heart to yearn day by day

The truth always hurts

There’s only so much you can do before you stop and realize it’s over. The problem we
have is we hate giving up. It’s a sign of weakness and nobody likes to be weak; but
sometimes giving up will show that you have the strength to move on. It’s letting go
of something when you know it’s near the end.

The opportunity we overlooked

You see a random stranger that catches your attention
somewhere out in public. You and that person exchange a
few glances, but then end up not introducting yourself to
eachother. There are strangers that I sometimes see, and
after they’re out of my sight forever, I think of all the
possibilities I could have had with them if I were to
actually introduce myself for once.

Bitter reality

Maybe the deepest part of who we are is what scares us or breaks our hearts, and we don’t
want to share that with anyone. And when we do, we don’t want to lose those people.

Calluses of the heart

Along the way, I’ve learned that you can’t let anyone in too far and you can’t

trust endlessly. The biggest mistake you can make is to care or love someone more
than yourself, because then you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.
Boundaries are necessary so that you can protect yourself, because once you’re broken,
you’ll never be fully fixed.
